First assets operational in Finland

March 1, 2026

We would like to introduce our operational Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) fleet in Finland.

Olana Energy has built 3 projects totaling 25 MW of energy storage across Finland – representing about 10% of the country’s energy storage capacity for grid services in 2025. We have maintained an up-time of above 99.5 % securing reliable operations.

All three projects were developed and constructed by Olana, and our team is responsible for technical management of the assets.

Each site can charge and discharge electricity for 1.2 hours at full power and they have been supporting the Finnish power grid since the start of their operations:
⚡ Turku – 5 MW / 6 MWh – Q1/2025
⚡ Siilinjärvi – 10 MW / 12 MWh – Q2/2025
⚡ Selkiö – 10 MW / 12 MWh – Q2/2025

Powered by Capalo AI, these systems operate in full range of electricity markets in Finland, from grid balancing reserve services that keep frequency stable (FFR, FCR-D, FCR-N, aFRR, mFRR) to electricity trading on the day-ahead and intraday spot markets.

And the pace has been just as exciting:
• Just one year after pivoting from solar development to energy storage, our first site was already fully commissioned
• All three assets were operational in only seven months from financial close

This track record demonstrates Olana’s ability to move fast and push forward on our ambitious path toward 1 GW of operating assets in the coming years!

We’re only just getting started — and we’re excited to keep scaling energy storage to support a more resilient power system across multiple markets.
